About this Practice

Chin Mudra (gesture of consciousness) mirrors Gyan Mudra in form but is practised with the palms facing upward, symbolising receptivity to higher wisdom. It encourages an open, surrendered mental state — particularly appropriate at the start of meditation or pranayama practice.

Key Benefits

  • Palm-up orientation signals receptivity and openness
  • Often paired with Ujjayi breath to deepen inward focus
  • Suitable for anxiety, restlessness and scattered attention
  • Commonly taught in the Academy's 200-hr pranayama module
